Akira's creator Katsuhiro Otomo is working on a new manga

Acclaimed manga creator and anime director Katsuhiro Otomo (Akira, Domu) revealed that he is preparing a new manga series for "a certain shōnen magazine." According to the interview published in the April issue of Shinchosha's art magazine Geijutsu Shincho on Saturday, this will be Otomo's first shōnen work — and his first long series since Akira.

Otomo began his career as a manga creator on such works as Domu, Kibun wa mō Sensō, and his most famous title internationally, Akira. He then branched into animation by directing part of the Robot Carnival omnibus and a feature film adaptation of his own Akira story.

Intriguing to say the least.

My first doujin

As an aside note, I published the first part of a doujin I'm working on. It's called 'The Girl and the Macman: a techie fairytale'. It is the story of a 6 year old girl and how she learns to use a 6 year old computer, but this is just the beginning.

Here's the cover and you can read the story on my deviantart account if you like :) If all goes well, with part 2 and 3 will have 45-48 pages.

Rurouni Kenshin live action movie 2nd trailer

I love this! Sanosuke looks awesome, badass and funny. The movie will premiere on Japan on August 25.

17-year-old actress Emi Takei plays the heroine Kaoru Kamiya. Yuu Aoi (Hana and Alice, Honey and Clover) plays Megumi Takani, Munetaka Aoki (The Last Message Umizaru, live-action The Girl Who Leapt Through Time) plays Sanosuke Sagara, and Taketo Tanaka plays Yahiko Myōjin.

Hunter x Hunter will have a movie!

movieNot everything is bad news despite the manga going on hiatus again.

A source linked to the Hunter X Hunter franchise told the Mainchi Shimbun paper's Mantan Web site that production on the first anime film based on Yoshihiro Togashi's manga has been green-lit.

Even though there have been two television anime series, including one ongoing one, there have not been a theatrical anime in the 14 years of the manga's serialization. According to Mainichi's source, the story of the film be an entirely original one.

Beelzebub anime will end on March 25!

But the manga by Ryuhei Tamura will continue.

The last episode of the anime is titled 'We don't say farewell'. Since Crunchyroll is streaming it, it will air on late March 24 because of the difference in hours.

My theory on what killed the anime is those weird fillers, low quality and low ratings, and Super Croquette time.

But I'm Sad :(, first Bleach now this.  Well, we can always hope for OVAs.

Kamisama no Memochou anime review

This was a 2011 series that started out great with the quality, but that had an anticlimatic finale. It is also known as 'Heaven's Memo Pad', or 'God's Notebook'.

An adaptation of the light novels by Hikaru Sugii, the story revolves around Alice, a NEET freelance detective who solves complicated and unussual cases in the Tokyo underground. Her age is unknown but she is way more mature than what she looks.

She is drawn very moe, but her intelligence and deduction capacity is similar to L from Death Note.

She meets Narumi through his classmate Ayaka, and Min, the attendant and owner of a ramen shop called Hanamaru, left by her father. Narumi is a 16 year old high school student who has become isolated and introverted because of the constant school transfers. Ayaka is his only friend through the gardening club.

When he meets Alice, he is skeptic and somehow despective of NEETs. He also meets her team of NEET Detectives in the back of the ramen store's alley: Shosa, a military otaku; Tetsu, an ex-boxer with connections to the police and Hiro, a bishonen gigolo/pimp character who has a net's worth of connections for research.

But the message is clear: you don't have to be an 'active, officially working' member of society to make a significant contribution to humanity. It's the small things that matter. In that sense, Alice is a memorable character to make a statement for NEET.

NEET is a way of life.

Tsuritama fishing anime 2nd promo streamed

Another great series I'm looking forward to. It will premiere on April 12, on Fuji TV's Noitamina slot.

This is the link to their official site where you can see the spot (opens in new window):

Finally there's more detail on the premise: this seishun/adolescent fishing story is set on the island of Enoshima in the Shōnan area south of Tokyo, and it follows four idiosyncratic youths: the one-quarter French, uncommunicative high school student Yuki (Ryota Ohsaka), the fishing enthusiast and self-proclaimed alien Haru (Miyu Irino), the island native Natsuki (Kouki Uchiyama), and the mysterious Indian Akira (Tomokazu Sugita) with his constant duck companion Tapioca.

Medaka Box premieres on April 4

The anime adaptation of NisiOisin and Akira Akatsuki's manga will premiere on April 4, produced by studio Gainax.

The story follows Medaka (Aki Toyosaki), the strongest girl in Hanokiwa Academy, leads the school's student council. The student body can submit pleas for help, 24 hours a day and 365 days a year, into the suggestion box that Medaka installed. Together with council members Zenkichi (Ono), Akune (Daisuke Namikawa), Kikaijima (Ai Kayano), she takes on the challenges in the school that include supernatural powers and near-constant battles.

Looking forward to this :)

Library War: Wings of Revolution trailer, opens on June 16

Kadokawa's official website for the anime film adaptation of Hiro Arikawa's Library Wars light novels began streaming a 107-second trailer on Friday. The video reveals that Library War: The Wings of Revolution will open in Japan on June 16 with the "Hatsukoi" (First Love) theme song by the Japanese rock band Base Ball Bear (Gintama, Big Windup!).

Like the television series and two manga series before it, the film adapts Hiro Arikawa's Library War (Toshokan Sensō) light novels about a future version of Japan. A law threatens to clamp down on freedom of expression in 2019, and Iku Kasahara joins the Library Defense Force, a military unit dedicated to protecting books from being confiscated. However, she finds that the job of her childhood dreams is harder than she bargained for.

A new Shungiku Nakamura' Boys Love anime in the works??!

Ciel Tres Tres magazine by Kadokawa is announcing that there is a new anime from boys-love manga creator Shungiku Nakamura in the works.

According to a copy of the magazine issue that ANN obtained, "the 'new anime' in production that is being announced is not Hybrid Child." The magazine already announced a Hybrid Child anime project last July. While Ciel Trés Trés says that the new anime is "still secret," more details will be announced in the next issue of the magazine on March 30.

This sounds like the third season of Sekaiichi Hatsukoi? Am I hoping too much and I am biased?
